US strikes Iran after ship attack Trump cites
He then abruptly cut off questions and reporters were ushered out of his office. A day before, the British military said that a container ship was hit a projectile off the coast of Oman, coming hours after Iran threatened vessels to stop using the route. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations centre said no injuries were reported. The development came during a fragile time for the US and Iran as they work to negotiate a permanent end to the war. Iran has increasingly challenged the
region and the US over its control of the Strait of Hormuz, even with the current interim deal it reached with the US last week. The attack on the cargo ship happened while a United Nations maritime agency was beginning an operation to move stranded ships out of the strait this week, using an alternative route, hugging the shores of Oman rather than sailing through the central part of the strait.
US strikes Iran, Oman ship attack, Strait of Hormuz, ceasefire violation, UN maritime agency, UK Maritime Trade Operations
So they just hit Iran because a ship got hit? Cool cool.
I don’t get it, the article says they’re negotiating an end to the war but also strikes?? Like pick a lane. Also Oman is right there, why not blame “whoever” instead of escalating.
UN maritime agency rerouting stranded ships and then boom US strikes… feels like the UN was part of the plan? Or maybe the projectile wasn’t Iran at all, but everyone just assumed it was Iran because of the threats. The wording is weird like it’s already decided.
Trump cited it? Of course he did, can’t let the reporters ask anything. British said a container ship got hit off Oman (which is basically the Strait anyway), then Iran threatened vessels, then the US “strikes Iran” like it’s automatic. Next thing you know we’re doing this every week and calling it “fragile negotiations.”
