UFC Freedom 250 White House Event Stirs Celebrity Retreat

UFC Freedom 250 is set for June 14 on the White House South Lawn to coincide with Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and the U.S. 250th anniversary—but a new report says four celebrities turned it down while three more were still invited.

By the time the first cameras roll next week, the White House South Lawn will already look different.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is preparing UFC Freedom 250, an outdoor mixed martial arts event scheduled for June 14. For the occasion, an arena is being constructed on the South Lawn specifically for the show.

The timing is built in from the start. June 14 also marks Donald Trump’s 80th birthday, and the event is positioned as part of celebrations for the United States of America’s 250th anniversary.

Still, not every celebrity invitation landed the way organizers likely expected. A new report says four celebrities have turned down attending the White House event, while three more were invited and could still show up.

UFC Freedom 250 isn’t just another sports night. It sits at the intersection of major national milestones and a highly visible political moment—so when stars say no, it changes the tone of what was meant to be a centerpiece celebration.

  1. So like, 4 celebrities turned it down but 3 are still invited? That sounds fake, bc if it was a big deal everyone would be there. Also building an arena on the lawn… doesn’t that ruin the grass or whatever?

  2. I’m confused—if it’s Trump’s 80th and US 250, why is it an MMA show. Maybe the “Freedom 250” thing is like a fundraiser? And when they say celebrities turned it down, do they mean fighters or actual celebrities? Feels like they’re mixing everything together.

  3. Celebs saying no is probably bc they don’t want to be associated with Trump, but then again it’s the White House so of course they’ll try to spin it as patriotism. Next week cameras roll and the lawn “already looks different” like they’re building a stadium for a birthday party… seems kinda wild. Also UFC = Freedom? idk man sounds like PR and politics wearing boxing gloves.
