“The sheet just picks up all the dust perfectly and smells amazing too. Also extremely useful for dusting the tops of your skirting board”, reports the Mirror . It might seem unconventional, but tumble dryer sheets are purposely formulated with an anti-static coating to stop garments from sticking together during the drying cycle. When rubbed over blinds or skirting boards, a dryer sheet absorbs the static electricity, which helps prevent dust from settling on the surface initially. Dryer sheets are usually covered in fabric softener,
which deposits a fine, waxy layer that serves as a protective shield to keep dust at bay. For skirting boards, begin by using a vacuum cleaner, then follow with a mop if you’d like. Afterwards, use a microfibre cloth to dry everything completely, making sure no dampness lingers, as wet surfaces can draw in dust. Next, glide the dryer sheets along your blinds and skirting boards. Remember to wipe them over any windowsills or bookcases in the space, as these areas are prone to collecting
dust rapidly. The space should stay dust-free for at least a month, although this will vary depending on how much air flows through the room each day. Regardless, this technique should keep dust from building up on frequently overlooked surfaces like skirting boards and blinds for longer, making your room feel noticeably cleaner with little fuss.
