Will Hall and the Tulane Green Wave will miss the services of running back Jamauri McClure ahead of their season opener against Duke.
The Tulane Green Wave had unfortunate injury news regarding the availability of Jamauri McClure ahead of their 2026 season opener against the Duke Blue Devils.
Tulane is transitioning to a new era in its program history. Following a spectacular stint with Jon Sumrall as the head coach, he departed to become the head coach of the Florida Gators. This prompted the Green Wave to make a move, hiring Will Hall to replace Sumrall at the position.
Knowing that Sumrall’s historic success will be hard to reach, Tulane hopes to start this season on the right foot. However, they will be without McClure for the upcoming opener against Duke due to an untimely foot injury, per college football insider Pete Thamel.
“Tulane projected starting running back Jamauri McClure (foot) is out for the game at Duke this weekend. McClure was a pre-season All-AAC pick who ran for 540 yards and two touchdowns last year,” Thamel wrote.

What lies ahead for Tulane this season
Tulane will miss having Jamauri McClure at running back for the season opener against Duke. They still have quality talents to keep the Blue Devils hones, but missing McClure will make the prospects of winning more difficult.
Will Hall taking over as head coach is significant. He was the team’s pass game coordinator before earning the valuable promotion, showing the trust he has from the players, staff and administration.
The Green Wave had a campaign for the ages in 2025 before Sumrall departed. They finished with an 11-3 overall record, going 7-1 in its American Conference matchups. They won both the regular season title and the conference championship game, winning the latter after beating the North Texas Mean Green. Their postseason run came to a close after falling 41-10 to the Ole Miss Rebels in the CFP first round.
Tulane will look forward to its road clash against the Duke Blue Devils. That matchup commences on Sept. 5 with kickoff taking place at 2:30 p.m. ET.
