“TS” billboards spark Taylor Swift “Toy Story 5” fears

New “TS” billboards for “Toy Story 5” have fans convinced Taylor Swift is involved—while Disney and Swift reps have offered no confirmation. A filmmaker denial about an end-credits song only deepened the uncertainty, setting up a countdown to June 9’s premiere
On a Friday when fans were already braced for either a confirmation or a letdown, new “Toy Story 5” billboards gave them something harder to ignore than hope: giant letters reading “TS.”
For Taylor Swift followers. it doesn’t take much imagination to connect those two letters to her name—and to the “Toy Story” franchise they associate with the long-running rumors that she’s involved in some way. The posters also come with 13 cartoon clouds across both horizontal and vertical versions of the ads. Swift’s favorite number is 13. and the billboards’ insistence on that detail makes “it’s just an acronym” sound less convincing with every passing refresh.
No one is saying anything. Reps for both Disney and Swift had no comment when asked about the billboards on Friday.
That silence is what’s feeding the speculation now. Swift’s possible involvement is still a wide-open question—fans are floating ideas ranging from a speaking voice role to a song embedded in the film. written and/or co-written and/or sung by Swift. One theory goes even further. suggesting the movie could include a live. picture-in-picture simulcast of Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding during opening-night screenings.
But there is one thing producers have already tried to shut down: an end-titles theme.
During an oft-cited interview this past week. producers ruled out Swift doing an end-titles theme while being oddly specific about what they were denying. Then. in a video interview published Wednesday. director Andrew Stanton added more detail—still not enough to satisfy the questions surrounding whether Swift appears anywhere in the movie.
When asked about rumors that Swift had done a song for the film, Stanton said, “The chatter surprised us. We’d be frickin’ honored,” before clarifying: “The sad truth is, we watched the movie being mixed last week, done, and the song on the end of that was not Taylor Swift’s song.”
Fans who want clarity hear the words they’re given and still find the gap they’re missing. Stanton’s quote rules out an end-of-film song by Swift—but does not answer whether there’s any Taylor Swift music elsewhere in “Toy Story 5,” including within the story itself.
The rumors didn’t start with these billboards. They gained momentum months ago after a mysterious countdown clock briefly appeared on Swift’s website. featuring a cloud pattern that eagle-eyed fans said looked like the wallpaper from the “Toy Story” series. The clock disappeared nearly as quickly as it appeared. and nothing seemed to happen at the time—except that it gave fans a reason to keep scanning for signals.
The timing of the “Toy Story 5” release has also been folded into fan theories. The movie’s release date. June 19. coincides with the anniversary date for Swift’s first single release. “Tim McGraw.” Swift has also said she has a “Taylor’s Version” edition of her debut album in the can that she planned to still release someday. From there, theories multiplied: could she release “Taylor Swift (TV)” that day?. Record a new version of “Tim McGraw” with Buzz- and Woody-themed lyrics?. Make “Toy Story 5” a period piece set in 2006 where human and inanimate characters obsess over the debut album by a 16-year-old country singer from Tennessee?. And. in the more outlandish corners of the internet. could she and franchise music composer Randy Newman be involved in a recut of “Short People. ” or a duet of “Jessie” set to the tune of “Marie”?.
Not everything has to be serious to be persuasive. Fans acknowledge these ideas may be far-fetched—but the point is that the tease, if it’s real, is consistent with Swift’s own history of Easter eggs that tend to mean something.
The next hard date on the calendar is June 9, when “Toy Story 5” has its premiere. That’s when fans expect the rumor economy to either pay out or collapse—especially if nothing is confirmed before the film’s June 19 release. The fear. and the stakes. live in that gap: a premiere date on June 9 could answer questions early. while a “TBA” blank spot—linked. however unlikely it seems—would suggest there’s still a place left open for a Swift contribution on the June 19 release.
For now, the billboards remain the loudest clue anyone has. Giant “TS.” A baker’s dozen of clouds. No comment from either side. And a denial from a director that. while specific. still leaves the biggest question untouched: is Taylor Swift in “Toy Story 5” in a way fans can actually hear. see. or recognize—just not at the very end?.
