Trump’s NATO troop slip sparks European confusion
Donald Trump has caused “confusion” in Europe due to a social media post concerning NATO that appeared to contradict his own defence department. A week ago, The Pentagon said 4000 troops would be leaving Poland – which borders Russia. But on Friday, US time, the President unexpectedly said 5000 troops would actually be heading to Poland. A European official said it was due to “chaotic communication” in he Hals of power in the US. At the same time, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told
NATO foreign ministers more troop cuts were to come. The US President has, predictably, slammed US host Stephen Colbert hours after his long running talk show finally came to an end on Thursday. Colbert has consistently called out Mr Trump, who has consistently railed against Colbert in return But, unexpectedly, Colbert didn’t mention the US President once during his farewell episode which featured Paul McCartney, a slew of stars and the hosts of Colbert’s rival shows. “You could take any person off of the street
and they would be better than this total jerk,” said Mr Trump at around 2am, DC time. He added, ominously, that there was “more to come” when it came to late night hosts being taken off the air. That seemed pointed at Jimmy Kimmel. On Friday, the US President swore in Kevin Warsh as the new chair of the US’ central bank. Mr Trump told him to be “totally independent”. Which will come as a surprise given how much Mr Trump harangued Mr Warsh’s predecessor
at the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell. While the United Arab Empires has said there is now only a “50-50 chance” the peace talks between the US and Iran will succeed. Read on for more updates.

So wait, are we sending 4,000 or 5,000 to Poland??
Europe is “confused” bc of a tweet, but Rubio is talking troop cuts at the same time. I’m just like… how is that supposed to look stable? Also Colbert not even mentioning him?? wild.
Trump saying 5k to Poland means he’s trying to scare Russia right, like right away. But then it says Rubio told NATO foreign ministers more cuts are coming so I don’t get it. And the “more to come” about late night hosts… is that about Paul McCartney too or just Kimmel? This is messy.
Kevin Warsh being “totally independent” from Trump is hilarious, because didn’t Trump just attack Powell for being independent too? Like come on. And the article jumps from NATO troops to Iran peace talks with that 50-50 thing which sounds made up. Also what does the United Arab Empires even have to do with NATO? I’m lost.
