Trump’s Latest Massive Promise Is Savaged By Critics, Including A Former MAGA Ally

Critics torched Donald Trump for inadvertently undermining himself in a Truth Social post on Monday.
The president claimed that “oil prices will drop precipitously, like everything else is dropping (but more!), when we WIN the war with Iran.”
“Three Dollars a gallon, but ultimately, below Two Dollars a gallon,” he wrote. “It will all happen quickly, and Iran will never have a Nuclear Weapon. MAGA.”
Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), a Trump acolyte turned critic, was among those who pointed out that the president appeared to contradict his repeated claims of victory in the conflict he launched in February.
“Wait, I thought we won the war like 50 times already!!!” she wrote on X.
Greene noted the price of gas is currently “the highest it’s ever been in history for Labor Day weekend,” and sarcastically added: “It’s so much winning we can hardly take it.”
Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) made a similarly scathing point about Iran.
“‘When we WIN’??? Didn’t Trump say Iran is a ‘failed nation’ and ‘dead’?” the lawmaker posted. “Didn’t Trump say Iran’s military is ‘totally destroyed’ and ‘completely defeated’?”
“Then why haven’t we won the war with Iran yet?” he asked. “Because Trump lies his ass off. November is coming.”
The Republicans Against Trump group, meanwhile, noted that Labor Day gas prices “hit a record $4.14 a gallon, nearly $1 higher than last year and the highest ever for the holiday.”
And Gregory Brew, an analyst with Eurasia Group, bluntly summarized the post:
“Trump acknowledges 1) oil prices are high, 2) it’s because of the war with Iran, 3) the war has not ended, 4) the US has not won, yet.”
