Trump Targets Zohran Mamdani’s Pied-à-Terre Tax With Fed Government Intervention: ‘Must Be Stopped, NOW!’

President Donald Trump slammed New YorkCity Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s (D) pied-à-terre tax plan on Tuesday, warning it will turn his hometown into a “filthy” and “crime ridden” hellhole if the democratic socialist mayor gets his way.
The president called the plan — championed by Mamdani and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) — “pure Amateur Hour” and vented it was the latest braindead tax introduced by the “Radical Left Jihadists” leading the Democratic Party, before claiming he is working to make sure it never gets off the ground.
“This doesn’t work in America, and must be stopped, NOW!” Trump posted on Truth Social. “I am looking to see if the Federal Government has any legal right to avert this disaster, before it is too late, for the millions of people who cherish New York and want to see it thrive, as opposed to becoming a filthy, crime ridden, decrepit place of mockery and scorn.”

The NYC Pied-a-Terre Tax is costing New York City and State a fortune in that the money, eventually to be gotten, is very little compared to to [sic] the TAXES PAID by the tens of thousands of people who are fleeing the City, never to return. Florida, Texas, and numerous other States, are making an absolute fortune! This dangerous political “experiment” in New York will destroy what was once a great City and State.
It is pure Amateur Hour, and it’s hard, as President of the United States of America, to sit back and watch it happen, especially to a place I once loved. Financial, and then Social, RUIN, is a 100% certainty – And then the Radical Left Jihadists charge Congestion Pricing on top of everything else.

Trump’s post comes after New York’s pied-à-terre tax will add at least 0.8% in annual taxes to homes with a market value of $5 million or more; condos and co-ops valued at $1 million or more will also be hit with at least a 4% tax hike.
A NYC judge temporarily blocked the rollout of the tax on Monday, and the city said shortly after that it was appealing the decision.
