Trump Says Iran PEACE Deal Near, Strait Opening

President Donald Trump says an Iran “PEACE” deal has been “largely negotiated” and that final details are being worked on before it is announced “shortly,” including reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The announcement follows Trump’s Oval Office calls with leader

President Donald Trump framed it like something close enough to touch—an “PEACE” agreement with Iran that has been “largely negotiated,” and is now in the final stretch of discussion before it is signed.

The president delivered the update in a post on Truth Social after a Saturday call with a wide lineup of leaders. including Saudi Arabia’s President Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump said “Final aspects and details of the Deal are currently being discussed. and will be announced shortly. ” adding. “In addition to many other elements of the Agreement. the Strait of Hormuz will be opened.”.

Trump’s announcement came with the message that more than one country was part of the process. He said he spoke to leaders from Saudi Arabia. the United Arab Emirates. Qatar. Pakistan. Türkiye. Egypt. Jordan. and Bahrain. along with Netanyahu. to discuss “the Islamic Republic of Iran. and all things related to a Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to PEACE.”.

In his Truth Social post, Trump listed the participants and the scope of what he said was discussed. He described a “very good call with President Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. of Saudi Arabia. ” and with President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates. He also said he spoke with Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani of Qatar. Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani. and Minister Ali al-Thawadi of Qatar.

Trump added Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye. and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt. He said he spoke with King Abdullah II of Jordan and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, too. After laying out the lineup. Trump said the agreement was “largely negotiated” and is “subject to finalization between the United States of America. the Islamic Republic of Iran. and the various other Countries. as listed.”.

Separately, Trump wrote that he had a call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu of Israel that “likewise, went very well.”

Rubio’s tease landed hours earlier. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had told reporters in India: “I don’t have news for you at this very moment, but there might be some news a little later today,” adding, “There may not be. I hope there will be, but I’m not sure yet.”

The timing is loaded. Trump’s PEACE announcement arrives 84 days after the Iran war began on February 28, a conflict that Trump described as “Operation Epic Fury” and that he said included joint U.S. and Israeli strikes that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The war has since been in a paused state. Trump said the conflict has officially been paused since early April, when he announced a ceasefire. But he also acknowledged the ceasefire has been violated several times by Iran, and he said the U.S. has responded with strikes—“largely in an effort to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.”.

Taken together, the administration’s message now turns on one concrete promise: Trump says the Strait of Hormuz will be opened as part of the agreement, a signal aimed directly at one of the most immediate pressure points in the region’s security and shipping.

The president’s post did not spell out what final details are left—only that they are being discussed and that the deal will be announced “shortly.”

  1. I don’t get it, is this peace with Iran or just more negotiating for sanctions or something? “Announced shortly” like he always does lol. Also why is there so many countries involved…

  2. Wait so he says PEACE deal is near but then “final aspects” still being discussed, so it’s not actually a deal yet? I feel like they’re just hyping it and then something happens and everyone pretends they didn’t say that.

  3. Not to be dramatic but opening Hormuz basically means shipping lanes are back on and everybody gets paid. Last time I heard about this kind of stuff it ended in more conflict anyway, so I’m not holding my breath. Also the article lists like 12 leaders and I can’t even keep the names straight—Qatar, Türkiye, UAE—who’s really calling the shots here?
