Trump praises Xi, says ‘wonderful things’ done during China summit

Trump praises – President Trump praised Chinese President Xi Jinping during remarks after a two-day U.S.-China summit, saying “a lot of problems were settled” and that the two leaders share similar feelings about ending the war with Iran.
President Trump used his remarks on the second day of a two-day U.S.-China summit to heap praise on Chinese President Xi Jinping, saying the leaders had “settled” a host of issues and pointing to shared hopes that tensions over Iran will not escalate further.
Thanking Xi during his closing comments, Trump said “a lot of problems were settled” during the talks. He also indicated that he and Xi share similar views on wanting the war with Iran to end, a point Trump raised as he spoke alongside other remarks from the summit’s final stretch.
Trump’s praise of Xi came as he described the overall tenor of the relationship between Washington and Beijing in strongly positive terms during the same summit period. The president also said the two countries share “deep sense of mutual respect” at a state banquet earlier in the trip.
The summit unfolded against heightened focus on regional and security concerns.. In the lead-up and during the trip, officials and lawmakers monitored statements on how U.S.. policy toward Taiwan would be handled after Trump met with Xi.. Separately, China warned that tensions involving Taiwan could jeopardize the broader relationship with the United States.
Trump’s trip to Beijing included high-profile ceremonial moments, including a greeting at Zhongnanhai, where Xi welcomed him for the summit’s closing remarks. Trump also arrived in Beijing for the start of the visit and was greeted by an honor guard and school children during an arrival ceremony.
As Trump prepared to depart China after the summit, the emphasis from his remarks remained firmly on his characterization of the talks: productive engagements with Xi, a tone of mutual respect, and a shared desire, as he put it, to see the war with Iran end.
U.S.-China summit Trump Xi Iran war Taiwan policy Zhongnanhai mutual respect
so now hes best friends with china lol ok
wait i thought we were at war with iran already?? why is trump saying he wants it to end if it already started, this is so confusing nobody tells us anything and now hes over in china making deals or whatever and we just supposed to be fine with that
my uncle was saying the same thing, like why does trump keep flying to other countries when theres so much going on here at home, gas prices are still bad and nobody in washington cares, and now hes over there getting a fancy dinner and honor guards like hes some kind of celebrity, i dont know what a Zhongnanhai even is but it sounds expensive and i bet we paid for it somehow, just saying this whole trip feels off to me and i dont trust it
he literally sold out taiwan and nobody is talking about it, i read the headline and thats exactly whats happening here, xi probably told him to back off and trump just smiled and said wonderful things, this is how it always starts, first its mutual respect then next thing you know china just walks right in and does whatever they want and trump will act surprised, seen this play out before and its not gonna end well for anybody except xi who gets everything he wants out of these meetings every single time without giving up a single thing
