Trump Celebrates New Fuel Economy Standards Which ‘TERMINATE’ Biden and ‘Pete Boot-EDGE-EDGE’s Ridiculous’ Rules

President Donald Trump announced he approved new fuel economy standards which “TERMINATE” ex-President Joe Biden and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s “ridiculous” standards, which he said cost Americans tons of money and forced them to buy electric vehicles “they never wanted.”
The president took a victory lap in a Saturday post on Truth Social — and took a moment to mock Buttigieg’s last name at the same time.
“BIG DAY FOR AMERICAN AUTO WORKERS AND CAR BUYERS! I have just approved new Fuel Economy Standards that TERMINATE Sleepy Joe Biden and Pete Boot-EDGE-EDGE’s ridiculous EV Mandate,” Trump posted. “The Dumocrats cost our Great Auto Manufacturers $Billions, forced Americans into cars they never wanted, and wasted Billions on Chargers that were never built.”
He continued:
These new Standards will take the waste out of building cars in America. That means LOWER PRICES, saving families thousands on a new, beautiful, and safe car — Far better than the Environmental Monsters that we were building heretofore. Every Manufacturer, from General Motors to Ford to Stellantis, has called me wanting to build here, and now they can!
Under my Administration, over 100 $Billion is being invested in American Autos, and that’s just the beginning. The Plants are coming back, and Jobs are returning, to Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, South Carolina, and all over our Country. Trump did not share specific details on the new standards, but his announcement comes after Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced plans in December to reset CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) for cars made by 2031 to 34.5 MPG, down from Biden and Buttigieg’s goal of 50.4 MPG.
“We are about to announce a common-sense fuel economy standard because we want Detroit to build cars that Americans want to buy — not cars that Democrats want Washington to build,” Duffy said in August.
The president has bashed Biden plenty of times in the past for his administration’s push to get more Americans driving electric vehicles, with Trump calling it a “government assassination” of the auto industry in 2023.
Trump made his announcement while in attendance for the Texas-Tennessee college football game on Saturday; the Longhorns escaped Knoxville with a 20-17 victory.
