Bill Maher Mocks Trump Over White House Tour With China Leader: ‘Xi Could Give A F**k’
“Real Time” host Bill Maher tore into President Donald Trump on Friday over his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who arrived in Washington, D.C., on Thursday for a state visit — and was given a lavish tour of the White House and all of Trump’s many renovations.
“Trump thinks that Xi could give a fuck about being his friend,” Maher said Friday. “So, it’s all personal. Trump did everything he could to show him around. He showed him the new spot where the limo drops people off. That’s been improved. Really, I’m not making this up.”
The comedian and political pundit continued, “Showed him the new helipad. The ballroom. Does he know that China builds, like, entire cities in a week? And he’s showing him the new driveway? It’s like showing [celebrity chef] Gordon Ramsay how to reheat pizza.”
Trump literally rolled out the red carpet for Xi at Joint Base Andrews on Thursday. They later attended a state dinner with their respective wives and a guest list full of tech CEOs — before Trump showed Xi the aforementioned new White House helipad and ballroom construction site.
Maher then noted Trump’s seeming obsession with redecorating the White House, calling his administration “the most macho and the gayest, ever.” He then stated in a faux Trump voice, “‘We need an arch!’”
He continued in character, “‘We’re looking bad over here without an arch. Fucking [former President Joe] Biden let us go arch-less, for years! Luckily, my good friend President Xi is an understanding man and he accepts that we don’t have an arch — because to not have one is criminal!’”
Maher went on to joke that “if anybody knows about an arch-criminal, it’s Donald Trump.”
Maher accepted a private dinner with Trump last year and even supported his war on Iran, before urging the president to “cut and run” from the conflict. While he has continued ribbing Trump despite their apparent fallout, Maher made sure to reassure Trump on Friday.
“I kid,” he said. “It’s always with love, everybody.”
