Trump Brags About Mysterious ‘Great Poll Numbers’… as Approval Rating Sinks to New Low

President Donald Trump bragged on Saturday about some “great poll numbers” he received… but there was just one problem: he didn’t mention which poll he was talking about.

The president posted about the mysterious poll on Truth Social and added “Thank you!!!” — complete with three exclamation points — without sharing more details.

And it would be worth knowing which one he was referring to, since the latest polls do not paint a rosy picture for the president. The New York Times on Saturday showed Trump has a 59% disapproval rating across its average from dozens of polls — up 3% from where it was at the start of the Iran war. Similarly, his approval rating has dropped from 41% to 38% during that same time, according to the NYT average.

Nate Silver drove home how ugly the numbers were for Trump in a Friday breakdown, noting the president’s 38.1% approval rating was the lowest of his second term.

Silver’s highlighted his two key takeaways at the top of his Substack post:

After rebounding slightly earlier in the month, Donald Trump’s net approval rating has now hit a new second term low of -20.6. His disapproval rating is dangerously close to breaking 60 percent, while just 21 percent of Americans strongly approve of the job he’s doing.

At this point in Trump’s first term, his net approval rating was 9.3 points higher at -11.3. In fact, Trump’s net approval rating is now lower than at any point in his first term. Back then, he bottomed out at -19 after January 6th.

Meanwhile, CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten let out several “woofs” on Saturday while reviewing Trump’s top five “biggest drops” in polling.

The data guru said Trump has taken big hits on the Iran war and the economy lately, among other topics, with Enten at one point urging Trump to pick up a phone and call a random American to get their take on the war. Enten said there was a 75% shot the citizen would tell Trump he’s botched it.

And when it came to the economy, Enten said things are even grimmer for the president.

“I went back through the history books… no president before President Trump had a negative 50 point or worse net approval rating on inflation,” Enten said.
