Trump blasts media for ignoring TrumpRx—our check

TrumpRx media – President Donald Trump told reporters Wednesday that the press “refuses” to cover his TrumpRx and Most Favored Nations policies. But a review of major news sites found frequent mentions of TrumpRx over the past year and a half, while Trump himself referenced i

President Donald Trump did not wait long after taking his seat for his Wednesday cabinet meeting to argue with the press. “This is something that I wish the media would talk about. ” he said. adding that “the press refuses to write about it” and “the press doesn’t even want to write stories about it.”.

Trump pointed to his TrumpRx and “Most Favored Nations” policies, which he says significantly lowered the cost of prescription drugs. He told the room that the achievement was so important “it should be the biggest story. And on that alone, we should win the midterms. On that alone, we should win the midterms.”.

The claim is contested. Health experts cited by PBS note that TrumpRx’s site says “discounted pricing is only available for cash-paying patients.”

Then Trump returned to the same theme: “But,” he said, “the press doesn’t talk about it.”

To test that assertion. a search was conducted across 11 major news organization websites for stories or other content that mentioned “TrumpRx.” The method was designed so that a mention of “TrumpRx” would be specific enough to limit irrelevant matches. Any format counted—news articles, opinion pieces, podcasts, and newsletters—so long as they included the term “TrumpRx.”.

The results suggest Trump’s complaint doesn’t match the paper trail of coverage. Trump announced TrumpRx on Sept. 30, 2025, unveiled its website on Feb. 5, 2026, and expanded it on May 18, 2026. After that launch. nearly 300 articles containing at least one mention of “TrumpRx” were published in the last 500 days. based on the search.

The spread of those mentions is what stands out. The Washington Post, Politico, and the international business wire service Reuters each had more than 40 articles mentioning TrumpRx. The New York Times had more than 30. CBS News, NBC News, and CNN each had more than 20. Other outlets with coverage were under that threshold. running under banners such as The Associated Press. Wall Street Journal. Fox News. and ABC News.

Even allowing for variations in how each site handles searches, a pattern emerged: at least one item from these major outlets mentioned TrumpRx about once every two days.

Trump, however, appears to have spoken about it less often than the coverage suggests. Since last year. Trump has given eight public speeches or press availabilities where he mentioned TrumpRx. based on a search of the transcript-gathering website FactBase. On his verified TrumpSocial, there have been 11 posts mentioning TrumpRx since last year.

Since May 18—when Trump announced the expansion of TrumpRx—Trump has spoken publicly to supporters or members of the media 10 times. totaling about 5.3 hours. according to an analysis of transcripts from FactBase. In that stretch. he spoke about TrumpRx or the broader topic of prescription drugs for about 35.5 minutes. based on a computer analysis of those transcripts.

The search that generated these counts also used a wider set of terms aimed at capturing the policy landscape around drug pricing. including phrases and variations for drug prices and costs as well as references linked to prescription drugs and drug-pricing proposals: “TrumpRx. ” “Ozempic. ” “Wegovy. ” “insulin. ” “discount drugs. ” “pharmaceutical. ” “pharmacy. ” “pharmacist. ” “most-favored nation. ” and “lower drug prices.”.

In other words, Trump’s public insistence that the press won’t cover his prescription-drug push collided with evidence of frequent mentions across major outlets—while his own remarks on TrumpRx were comparatively limited in both number and time.

By Wednesday, Trump framed the dispute as one of media attention and midterm stakes. But the record of coverage and his own speaking pattern leave a different question for readers to sit with: if TrumpRx is being discussed this often in the broader media environment. what exactly does he mean when he says the press “doesn’t talk about it”?.

  1. I mean he’s not wrong, media picks and chooses. If it “helped” drug prices why wouldn’t they spam it every hour? Sounds like PR control.

  2. Wait so Trump says the press ignores TrumpRx, but then they’re saying there WERE articles. Also isn’t TrumpRx like… for cash patients only? So is it actually cheaper for normal people or what? Cuz that part kinda matters.

  3. This headline is confusing. They say they searched for “TrumpRx” on websites like that proves it was covered, but maybe it was mentioned in a video or like by a producer and not in the article text? Also “Most Favored Nations” sounds like the opposite of favored… like why is it always about drug companies and then the website says cash paying only? Idk, I’m tired. Media probably hates him AND he probably exaggerates, can it be both?
