ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – Monday evening Tropical Depression Two strengthen to Tropical Storm Bertha in the NE Gulf. Bertha with 40mph max winds became the second tropical storm of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season. No direct impact for SGA from Bertha however the outer rain-bands will bring tropical rain and gusty winds on Tuesday. As the storms moves west coming across the southern coast of Louisiana, on-and-off showers and storms continue through the week.
What to Expect Tuesday
Tuesday brings isolated morning showers then the next round of showers and storms midday into early evening. Highs top low 90s, but it’ll feel more like 100+ with the tropical moisture in place. Expect S-SE winds to reach gusts of 25 mph at times.
The combination of warm temperatures, moisture, and wind means scattered heavy rain is possible, though widespread flooding is not expected at this time. Plan for wet conditions if you’re heading outside — bring an umbrella and allow extra time for your commute.
The Rest of the Week
The tropical threat diminishes as potential Tropical Storm Bertha moves away Wednesday and beyond. However, the wet pattern continues.
Wednesday brings a slight chance of showers in the morning, then a 30% chance of storms after 2 p.m. Highs low 90s with heat indices around 103.
Thursday through the weekend, expect scattered afternoon storms as daytime heating increases. A front drops in from the north and stalls which keeps unsettled weather in the forecast through Sunday. Still hot and humid with highs in the low 90s and lows in the mid-70s.
