Centre-back Luka Vuskovic is set to join Brighton from Tottenham. The deal agreed between the clubs is for around £50m, made up of £46m plus £4m in very achievable add-ons. There is also a 20-per-cent sell-on clause and matching rights in the deal. It is an improvement on Brighton’s previous bid of £45m in total, including add-ons, which was rejected by Spurs. I don’t even get it, didn’t Spurs just sign that Dutch dude from Brighton too? Makes it sound like Spurs and Brighton are trading players like Pokémon. If Vuskovic is “down the pecking order” then why was Tottenham paying attention at all?
This Vuskovic thing reminds me of when Arsenal did that Saliba move. But Spurs always talk big and then don’t start the guy, like they’re scared of using youth. Also “very achievable add-ons” sounds like a way to dodge the real number, so it’s not really £50m in the end? I’m just confused.
