Todd Meadows’ ex sought supervised visits months before death

Todd Meadows’ – Months before Todd Meadows died after falling overboard while working on Deadliest Catch, his ex Kennady Harvey asked a court to restrict his access to their two children, citing alleged alcohol issues and substance-abuse-related concerns.
For months before Todd Meadows’ death on the Bering Sea, his ex was already asking a court to step in—arguing his alleged alcohol issues made unsupervised time with their kids unsafe.
In May 2025, Kennady Harvey filed a petition covering custody and support for their two children: a 1-year-old and a 5-month-old. The filing, obtained by MISRYOUM, sought child support and primary custody.
Harvey also requested limits on Meadows’ visits, pointing to “alleged substance abuse issues with alcohol.” In her request, she asked that Meadows not drink or use marijuana around the children and that his visits be supervised.
The custody case, however, had no movement after Harvey submitted the initial petition.
Months later, Meadows’ life ended after a workday on a fishing boat. He was 25. He died on Feb. 25 after falling overboard while working on the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea during production of Deadliest Catch. The official cause of death was ruled as “drowning with probable hypothermia,” along with “submersion of body in cold water.”.
Court records cited in the petition also indicate that Meadows left behind three kids. He had the two children with Harvey, and another child with his ex, Hattie Sullivan.
The legal filing paints a timeline of a family already turning to the courts before the tragedy—one in which the question wasn’t just custody, but whether Meadows’ time with his children should be watched closely.

Supervised visits?? That’s crazy. Feel bad for the kids.
So he fell overboard while working… but they were already fighting in court about alcohol and drugs? I mean, not saying it caused it or whatever, but it sure sounds like a red flag.
Wait I thought he died like on Deadliest Catch like years ago? Or was it another guy? Also “probable hypothermia” makes it sound like he was already sick?? Either way the case not moving for months is wild.
Every time I hear about these custody things it turns into a whole mess. Like if she asked for supervised visits and he couldn’t even get it done, then what’s the system doing. And then he leaves behind other kids too?? I’m confused if this is the same petition that said he couldn’t drink around them or if it’s just rumors from the show.
