Tina Mitchell thanks fans amid darkest weeks after split

Tommy Fleming’s ex-wife, Tina Mitchell, has released a statement, thanking everyone who reached out to her during one of the ‘most difficult’ periods of her life. Last month, Tina Mitchell announced that her 20-year-long marriage to Tommy ended in October 2025. The singer then admitted he had been “living a lie” throughout his life in an explosive interview with Ciara Kelly on Newstalk. He came out as gay and opened up about battling with his mental health and self-medicating with drugs and alcohol. Tina responded
by speaking to the Sunday Independent, revealing she ‘regretted’ her marriage. Last month, the singer received overwhelming support from his fans as he took to the stage for the first time following the revelations and received a “standing ovation” from fans. “Tommy walked out on stage and the place erupted. It was the most incredible audience,” said his manager Kathy Cullinan. “Sometimes people know you need support and the crowd went the extra mile to support Tommy.” And this week Tina shared a statement on
social media, thanking people for the support she had received. “To everyone who has reached out, thank you. Your kindness, compassion and encouragement have meant more than I can put into words. During one of the most difficult periods of my life, your support has been a source of strength and comfort to both me and my family. “I have received an overwhelming number of messages and, while it may take some time, I want you to know that I will do my best to
respond to everyone. Every message has been appreciated and none have gone unnoticed.” Tina wrote. “Since the Newstalk interview aired on 15 May 2026, I have been repeatedly asked whether I was contacted beforehand, given an opportunity to respond, or afforded a right of reply. The answer is no. While everyone is entitled to tell their story, I believe fairness and balance are important, particularly when the experiences of others are so closely intertwined.” She continued: “Despite everything, I remain enormously grateful to those who
have stood by us. Your support, kindness and belief in us have helped carry us through some very dark days. I would also like to sincerely thank Niamh Horan and the Sunday Independent for giving me the opportunity to share my perspective. “To everyone who has supported my family and me, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your compassion and understanding will never be forgotten.” Want to see more of the stories you love from RSVP ? To add RSVP as a preferred
