The Detroit Tigers’ rubber game against the Minnesota Twins is starting out a little wet.
The start time in the game between the Tigers and the Twins on Wednesday, Sept. 9, has been delayed by rain. The game was originally scheduled for a 1:10 p.m. ET first pitch, and the new start time has not been announced yet.
The Tigers won the first game of the series 5-4 on Monday, Sept. 7, powered by home runs by left-handed sluggers Kevin McGonigle and Riley Greene. McGonigle homered again in Detroit’s game against Minnesota on Tuesday, Sept. 8, but the Twins pulled out a 3-2 comeback victory.
The third game of the series, and final Tigers matchup against the Twins, will feature Detroit righty Keider Montero (9-8, 3.52 ERA) and Minnesota righty Zebby Matthews (9-9, 4.69). The Tigers are 4-8 against the Twins this season, meaning Minnesota has already clinched the tiebreaker over Detroit – though it likely won’t come into play as the Tigers’ playoff odds are basically at zero despite not having been mathematically eliminated.
