The Detroit Tigers managed to take two of three from the Seattle Mariners with an 11-0 shellacking of the home team at T-Mobile Park on Thursday evening, making it seven of the last eight that they have scored eight runs or more. Framber Valdez gave his team seven shutout innings while Dillon Dingler and Kevin McGonigle both homered to help power the offense.
The Motor City Kitties now move on to San Francisco, where they play the final leg of their West Coast road swing against the Giants. Right-hander Keider Montero gets the start in the opener on Friday night looking to claw his team closer to the .500 mark as the season hits the home stretch.
The 26-year-old’s last start against the Athletics in Sacramento was a strong one, tossing six frames of scoreless ball on two hits and two walks while striking out two and hitting a batter. Montero’s efforts earned him his eighth win of the 2026 campaign in another 11-0 final.
The Giants’ starter for Friday’s game has yet to be announced as of the time of publication.
UPDATE: Right-hander JT Brubaker will serve as the opener tonight for San Francisco, making his first start of the 2026 season.
