TIFF 2026 Adds More Than 60 New Titles in Centrepiece and Wavelengths

If it is a day ending in -y during the summer, it’s a day for a raft of new fall festival announcements. Today, the Toronto International Film Festival has added over 60 new titles to its slate, including the official selections of its Centrepiece program, plus its Wavelengths and TIFF Classics selections. Today’s additions include a number of already buzzed-about titles, including previous festival winners like Cannes sensation “La Gradiva” and Sundance crowd-pleaser “Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!”
The Centrepiece lineup features new works from significant voices and festival favorites, including Neto Villalobos Brenes, Anthony Chen, Louis Clichy, Hosam Abu Dan, Valeska Grisebach, Mahamat-Saleh Haroun, Diego Luna, Avi Nesher, Banjong Pisanthanakun, and Yonfan. The slate also includes a number of Canadian films led by filmmakers Marie Clements, David Bezmozgis, and Cody Lightning, alongside a record-setting slate of eight animated features.
“Spanning feature films, shorts, and boundary-blurring mid-lengths,” Wavelengths goes for “artist-driven works that embrace risk, defy convention, and challenge cinematic form.” This year’s slate features an expanded lineup of 11 feature films, with striking new work from a mix of returning Wavelengths alumni and exciting debuts.
And TIFF Classics brings restored and rediscovered works back into the spotlight, reuniting audiences with iconic films from visionary filmmakers in Canadian and international cinema. Anchoring the list is a “spectacular presentation” in TIFF’s state-of-the-art Cinema 1 of Ken Russell’s “The Devils” (1971), the 4K director’s cut of the politically defiant masterpiece starring Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave, featuring sets designed by Derek Jarman.
Earlier this month, the festival rolled out its first films, including its official opening night gala (Siân Heder’s “CODA” follow-up “Being Heumann”). Following that announcement, the festival shared five additional films that will screen as part of this year’s Special Presentations program, plus its massive overall Galas and Special Presentations listing, its Platform and Discovery picks, its TV selections, and those big stars it will honor at its annual gala. Phew.
