Three Prime Video Picks June 26-28 Worth Your Time

From a cozy mystery about three sheep to a 20-years-late rewatch of an early-aughts gymnastics comedy, and a Krypton-fueled stop for new DC momentum, Prime Video has a strong week on June 26-28.

Prime Video is putting a bright lineup on the menu this week. June 26-28. and it’s a mix that feels built for different moods. There’s a new animated-leaning mystery that quietly deserved more attention than it got in theaters. There’s a nostalgia hit that somehow turns 20 while you weren’t looking. And there’s a Superman reset button for anyone who just watched “Supergirl” and realized they want the next (and very correct) step.

In “The Sheep Detectives,” a three-sheep mystery unfolds like a bedtime story gone sideways. Lily (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Sebastian (Bryan Cranston). and Mopple (Chris O’Dowd) live in a pasture tended by their owner George (Hugh Jackman). who reads mystery novels to them every night. Then George dies under mysterious circumstances. and the local lawman (Nicholas Braun) proves he’s useless—so Lily decides to solve the mystery herself. It’s the kind of plot that could easily lean silly. but the cast makes it feel like it wants to entertain as hard as it wants to charm.

The film also comes with a real-world twist: “The Sheep Detectives” earned high critical and audience acclaim. and yet it still technically came in as a box office flop. It had an exceedingly short theatrical run. which is the whole reason it can feel like one of those titles you missed—until now. If you’ve been meaning to check it out, this is exactly the moment.

If you’d rather keep things closer to your own timeline. “Stick It” is hitting that perfect rewatch sweet spot—because it’s been 20 years since the film first came out. Haley Graham (Missy Peregrym) is a once prodigious young gymnast who has zero regard for the sport. for adults in general. and. occasionally. for the law. After one particularly unfortunate incident results in thousands of dollars in damages. her father forces her to attend an elite gymnastics academy instead of sending her to juvie. Haley, predictably, would prefer juvie.

At the academy, she’s coached by Burt Vickerman, played by Jeff Bridges. Peregrym has shared that she was worried about starring opposite him. saying she was “I’m gonna ruin his career. I hope I don’t take down his career.” The film’s payoff is that it didn’t derail anything—“it simply added a truly delightful comedy to his catalogue. ” and it also delivered “endless quotes for an entire generation to recite.”.

And if you’re in the mood for something that lets the week feel bigger than your couch. “Superman” is the move—especially if you watched “Supergirl” in theaters and found yourself craving more Kryptonians. The guidance here is simple: if you want to do things in the correct order, you should watch “Superman” first. It’s the first film in James Gunn’s new DC Universe. and it’s technically Kara Zor-El’s (Milly Alcock) first appearance. arriving in a fun post-credits scene. Still, it’s very much a Superman film, built to launch David Corenswet’s take on the Man of Steel.

Previously, “Superman” was only available on HBO Max, but now it’s on Prime with no add-ons required. That means you can spend this week with Clark and Krypto, and yes—endure the obsession of one Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult).

There’s a neat through-line across these picks: one title asks you to lean in to a mystery that didn’t get its moment in theaters. another dares you to revisit a comedy you’ve probably quoted before. and the last one turns streaming into a starting line for a brand-new DC era. If June 26-28 is your window to catch up—or finally catch up—Prime Video is giving you three pretty different ways to do it.
