‘This was not an easy decision’: Belle’s in Watertown to close after 22 years

After more than two decades, the burger spot at 46 Arsenal St. in Watertown is closing its doors.

Belle’s Burgers & Ice Cream announced its closure on Facebook, sharing that its final day of service will be Friday. 

“For more than two decades, we have had the privilege of serving our community, meeting so many wonderful people, and becoming a small part of countless family meals, celebrations, and memories,” the post read.

Fans on Facebook shared their memories of the neighborhood restaurant known for its charbroiled burgers, hand-cut fries, and ice cream.

“I’ll have to come by before you close,” one commenter wrote. “Still some of my favorite burgers in the Boston area. Coming here with my dad was always special.”

Another called Belle’s their “favorite place in Watertown,” adding “I’m not sure how my boys will deal with the loss!”

The restaurant didn’t specify a reason for closing and did not immediately respond to Boston.com’s request for comment. 

The restaurant, formerly Wild Willy’s, is owned by Jon Beatrice and Peter Stahl. After a temporary closure in 2024, Belle’s took over and reopened in 2025 after a renovation and menu changes.

Buff’s Pub in Newton will reportedly take over the space at 46 Arsenal St., according to Friends of Boston’s Hidden Restaurants. 

“We have been incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to do what we love for so many years,” Belle’s Facebook post read. “The memories, friendships, laughter, and moments shared around our tables will always hold a special place in our hearts.”
