‘The Voice’ Finalist Josh Sanders Faces Custody Fallout

Josh Sanders, an “The Voice” finalist, is locked in a bitter custody fight with his estranged wife Kendra over their three children—where he alleges she blocks co-parenting and pressures the kids against him, while she counters with claims he’s an active alcoh

Josh Sanders knows what it feels like to win and still lose ground at home.

After fighting his way to become a finalist on “The Voice,” he’s now fighting for custody of his three children in a legal dispute with his estranged wife, Kendra—one that court filings and arrest records are painting as anything but straightforward.

The couple separated back in January, and their fight has since moved into the courts. In filings. Josh argues he should have custody. saying Kendra is trying to turn their kids against him and keeping him from co-parenting. He also claims that one of the children has said Kendra wants them to live with him.

Kendra’s response is sharply different. She counters by alleging that Josh is an “active alcoholic. ” arguing that he “drank away” his professional opportunities after coming in second on “The Voice” two years ago. Her filings go further: she alleges Josh has driven drunk with the kids in the car and has been violent in front of them.

In Kendra’s view, Josh is only fit for supervised visitation. She’s asking for primary custody and insisting she can provide a “stable, loving, alcohol free home” for the children.

The custody battle is tangled up with prior legal trouble. Arrest records show Josh was arrested in April for violating a domestic violence temporary restraining order. Earlier this month, he filed a trespassing complaint against Kendra. It’s unclear what the domestic violence restraining order was about. but Josh claims it was tied only to the custody dispute.

Taken together. the filings lay out two competing versions of the same home life—one centered on alleged parental interference and co-parenting restrictions. the other built around claims of addiction. dangerous driving. and violence. With multiple court matters underway. the question is no longer just who gets custody. but how each claim will be weighed as the case moves.

  1. Wait so he got arrested and still is “The Voice” finalist? Sounds like he should’ve been off TV.

  2. I’m confused how custody can even be decided while there’s an arrest record involved… like isn’t that automatic supervised only? Also “drank away his opportunities”?? idk.

  3. Josh says she’s blocking co-parenting and turning the kids against him, but she’s saying he’s a drunk who drove with the kids… court filings are always messy though. Still the “violating a domestic violence restraining order” part is pretty scary. I feel bad for the kids more than anything.

  4. This is why I don’t trust those reality show people. Like if he came in second and then started drinking, that’s probably the real story, not the custody stuff. And the trespassing complaint sounds like he’s being petty, but maybe she deserved it? Idk, too much paperwork, honestly.
