The top four fall foliage destinations in the U.S. are not in New England, according to Priceline

New England towns are world-renowned for their scenic foliage, but they fell in the bottom half of a recent list of America’s best foliage spots.

Priceline shared a list of the 10 most scenic areas for fall foliage in 2026 with Boston.com and Bretton Woods, N.H. ranked No. 5, the Berkshires ranked No. 8, and Stowe, Vermont ranked No. 9.

Priceline comprised the list by analyzing hotel searches for Oct. 2-26 by U.S.-based consumers in regions known for fall foliage.

New England destinations have ranked higher on the list during previous years, with Bretton Woods breaking into the top three in 2024.

In Bretton Woods, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the fall foliage in the White Mountains via gondola and zipline. In the Berkshires, leaf peepers enjoy an annual fall foliage parade. And in Stowe, there are scenic drives and more gondola rides for leaf viewing.

According to the ranking, the No. 1 most scenic area for leaf peeping this year is the Adirondacks in New York.

Last year, Airbnb named Vermont the best U.S. fall foliage destination, followed by New Hampshire.
