Tribute show brings best of Clapton and Santana to Chilliwack

A tribute band playing the best of Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana is coming to Chilliwack. The Journeymen will rock the Chilliwack Cultural Centre stage on June 28, honouring the two guitar legends. After sold-out performances across B.C. and standout appearances at festivals that have drawn record crowds, this Vancouver Island/Fraser Valley based band is bringing its live concert experience to Chilliwack for the first time. The Journeymen have been playing for 15 years and are billed as delivering an “authentic, high-energy performance that captures

the soul, passion, and musicianship” of Clapton and Santana. The band includes guitarist Doug Towle, drummer Mike Michalkow, keyboardist Brett Ziegler, Paul Jutras on percussion, Goby Catt on bass guitar, and vocalist Andrea Shannon. Towle was selected as a Top 10 finalist in Guitar Player Magazine’s prestigious Guitar Superstar competition in 2009, chosen from thousands of guitarists worldwide. He is known for blending rock, blues, jazz, flamenco, and Latin influences into a signature style all his own. “In this show, he takes on the role

of both Clapton and Santana with the confidence, feel, and swagger that only a truly seasoned professional can deliver. From blistering solos to soulful phrasing and fiery Latin grooves, his playing forms the heartbeat of the show.” Many Chilliwack residents will know keyboardist Ziegler from his long-term residency with the Jones Boys at Harrison Hotel. The Journeymen – The Best of Clapton and Santana is at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Sunday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $48 and available at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, 604-391-SHOW,

or at the ticket box office.

  1. I dunno man $48 seems kinda steep for a tribute. Unless they’re like 1:1 with the real guys lol.

  2. They’re playing Sunday June 28? I thought Chilliwack was having some different concert that day. Also “authentic” is doing a lot of work there… I feel like it’ll be mostly solos and not the actual vibe.

  3. Doug Towle sounds like he’s super legit but I always wonder if tribute shows are just gonna be the same songs over and over. Still, 7:30 pm, Harrison Hotel connection, that’s pretty cool. If it’s sold out everywhere else in B.C. then maybe it’ll be worth it, I guess. Wonder how close they do the Latin grooves part…
