The Daily Show Mocks Melania’s AI Speech “Impression”

The Daily – Desi Lydic used Wednesday’s “Daily Show” monologue to roast Melania Trump for an AI event and a speech she joked sounded like it was written by artificial intelligence—complete with a parody of the address’s soaring, metaphor-heavy lines.

“Let’s start with Melania Trump, first lady and woman who just slipped poison into James Bond’s martini,” Desi Lydic began during Wednesday’s “Daily Show” monologue, turning quickly to the first lady’s recent appearance at an AI event.

Lydic said Melania hosted an AI gathering at the White House “yesterday,” framing it as “continuing the long tradition of first ladies in tech” and joking about a future built on absurd tech milestones. “And Melania was so excited about AI, she even did an impression of it,” Lydic added.

The show then cut to footage of Melania’s speech, where she leaned into sweeping, motivational language about artificial intelligence. “Today is about opening doors. When the doors open, passions flow, courage blossoms and dreams are realized. AI inspires. Use this chapter of your life to sail away with your dreams.”.

Lydic responded by mimicking the tone in a punchline that closely followed the speech’s structure. “Yes. Sail away to the chapter of your life on the rocket ship of your courage as you blossom into the stars.”

From there, she pivoted to the question of what Melania used to draft the address. “The comedian then questioned what prompt Trump used to pen this address, quipping, “ChatGPT, give me metaphor. No. Give me all metaphors.”

Lydic also suggested this wasn’t a one-off performance. “Although, to be fair, this isn’t just some one-off thing Melania is doing,” she said. “She’s been into dystopian technology for a while now.”

A montage followed featuring Melania’s past comments supporting AI. including a line she delivered to reporters: “The robots are here.” Lydic kept the jokes rolling after that clip. playing with the phrasing. “The robots are here, asking you to join us – I mean them. Them,” she said. “Delete previous sentence.”.

The monologue briefly shifted when Lydic conceded that Melania may have been pointing to something real. Later in her remarks, she referred to news that a drone rescued a U.S. Army helicopter crew after the helicopter crew had been struck down by an Iranian drone in the Strait of Hormuz. “Sorry. Wait a minute. The pilots were hit by a drone and then rescued by another drone?. Am I crazy, or were we warned about this?” Lydic said. “You beautiful mystery, you were right. I am sorry I ever doubted you. Delete previous insults.”.

“The Daily Show” airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.

  1. Okay but the AI part aside… Melania always comes off kinda robotic anyway, so the impression wasn’t even that far off. Also “opening doors passions flow courage blossoms” sounds like every motivational poster ever.

  2. Wait so they’re mocking her speech like it’s fake because it was AI? But don’t they all use ghostwriters and stuff? And wasn’t the point that drones rescued someone with a drone?? That seems like the real scary part, not the metaphors.

  3. I don’t even get why people are mad about this. If the robots are here (or whatever) then yeah we probably should talk about it. The Daily Show is hilarious but also kinda weird bringing up that Strait of Hormuz drone thing like it’s connected? Like maybe Melania wrote the prompt for the drone too, idk. Delete previous insults?? I mean come on, this is just comedy right?
