He didn’t wait for the dust to settle.
Less than a week after the premiere of The Boys Season 5 finale. Prime Video dropped the first bone-crunching trailer for Vought Rising—turning the franchise’s long goodbye into a fresh countdown. The new series is set to star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, and it’s already confirmed for release in 2027.
That timing matters. Fans had spent the final stretch of the show’s run bracing for an end—while also knowing it was a rare case where The Boys moved fast enough to keep them hungry. The series first premiered in 2019. and when it debuted. all episodes of Season 1 were released on the same day as a binge. After that. Seasons 2 and beyond shifted to a weekly release model. starting with the first two or three episodes at once to kick things off.
Now, Prime Video is pushing the story forward without pretending the finale was the final door.
Vought Rising is already finished in production, and with production fully complete, it’s likely to air earlier rather than later. That’s the kind of hope fans often cling to when they’re tired of waiting—but this time it comes with a hard date attached: 2027.
The series’ reach is also spreading beyond streaming screens. The Boys has become popular enough to show up in games, and the latest major move comes through Call of Duty: Mobile. A massive collaboration has been officially announced to celebrate Call of Duty: Mobile Season 5.
The game’s partnership brings a new expansion out now. It includes two new superpowered game modes and more than a dozen themed awards. The lineup of featured characters includes Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir. Call of Duty: Mobile also doubled up on COD Point offers to start the new season. and it loaded the store with new cosmetics.
But there’s another part of the franchise story that’s still sitting on fans’ shoulders—Gen V.
Around the same time The Boys returned for its fifth and final season. news broke that Gen V—its first spin-off—had been canceled after only two seasons. When the cancellation surfaced online. series creator Eric Kripke went public and said he did have more plans for the characters from Gen V. The catch was that those plans wouldn’t be in their own show.
Most fans had been expecting Gen V characters to play a larger role in The Boys Season 5. With Vought Rising set to turn back the clock so far, it’s highly unlikely any of them will be seen in the 2027 spin-off.
In the middle of all the new trailers. game modes. and store drops. the franchise is doing something fans feel in their bones: it’s moving forward while still carrying unfinished business. The Boys may be back in public view—yet the question of what comes next. and who gets to show up. is still very much alive.

2027 seems so far like why not next year??
I’m confused… so The Boys ended but they’re doing a “spin-off” called Vought Rising? Sounds like they just couldn’t let it go. Jensen Ackles is always in everything now it feels like.
Wait the trailer drops less than a week after Season 5 finale… and production is already done? That’s wild. Also the article mentions Call of Duty Mobile like that has anything to do with the story lol but I guess money talks. I thought it was gonna be on earlier than 2027 for sure.
So is “Vought Rising” basically just Vought stuff happening before the finale? Or is it like an alternate timeline?? The way it’s written I can’t tell, it keeps repeating the same lines. And why is Call of Duty: Mobile getting a collab for this like I’m supposed to care about A-Train in a mobile game? lol
