TFC coach upset after Zimmerman red, Dorsch injury

Toronto FC coach Robin Fraser is getting fed up with the referees in MLS.
“Every week we have something,” Fraser said Wednesday after his team rallied to draw Charlotte FC 3-3 at BMO Field. “We’ve already gotten two letters from the referees’ association, saying ‘Oh I’m sorry, it should have been this, it should have been that.’
“It’s hard enough to win in this league when you’re playing against the 11 players, but then when you have the referees you feel like you’re against them every week, it becomes difficult.”
Fraser said he was upset with two plays that he felt put his team at a disadvantage.
The first was a red card shown to veteran defender Walker Zimmerman. Zimmerman was booked in the 56th minute for a hard tackle on Idan Toklomati near midfield.
“I don’t know how from that far away… that you’d say that’s a goal-scoring opportunity,” Fraser said of the play. “But that’s an interpretation and maybe somebody else would have interpreted it differently.”
The second play that upset the coach came late in the game when Niklas Dorsch was injured shortly after scoring the equalizing goal. Fraser said Dorsch had to go to the hospital for a CT scan after the game.
“Niklas probably has a fracture, not even a card. How is that possible?” Fraser said. “He’s on his way to the hospital to get a CT scan. How is it possible that someone can have his face broken, he’s got a dent in his face, and not even a card?”
Toronto FC (4-9-7) returns to the pitch Saturday against Inter Miami.
