A man has been charged with murdering his 13-month-old son in Temple Hills, Maryland, last week, according to police.
The Prince George’s County Police Department said 26-year-old Alwin Strachan was charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and child abuse resulting in the death of 13-month-old Kyro Strachan.
The charges stem from an incident that happened on Sept. 18, when police officers were called to the family’s home in the 3200 block of Curtis Drive around 11:15 p.m., where a baby was found unresponsive and not breathing.
Kyro was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly afterward, despite lifesaving measures.
An autopsy determined Kyro died from blunt force trauma, and his death was ruled a homicide.
The police department said detectives interviewed Alwin, who told them he had injured Kyro, resulting in his death.
