A 16-year-old girl died and 21-year-old man was wounded in a shooting during an event that police said drew thousands of people to Old Town Manassas, Virginia, on Friday.

City of Manassas police said it happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. near the Manassas Train Depot.

The man was taken to the hospital in serious but non-life-threatening condition. According to police, he is also one of the suspects: Tasheem Douglas, 21, of Prince William County.

He faces charges of second-degree murder, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon

Authorities said they believe Douglas and another shooter exchanged gunfire near the railroad tracks before fleeing the immediate area.

The 16-year-old girl was struck during this exchange.

Police are still looking for the second suspect.

“We had approximately 10,000 people here tonight. We know someone saw something,” Manassas City Police Chief Douglas Keen said at a briefing.

Those with information are asked to call 703-257-8043 or upload photos and video through the police department’s evidence-submission portal. Police said even footage that does not appear to show the incident could be important to the investigation.

“If you’re a parent, if you have children, whether they’re under-age or adult that were here tonight, please speak with them,” Keen said. “Someone saw something. We need our community’s help to help identify the shooters involved in this incident tonight.”
