A 17-year-old from Jaffrey, New Hampshire, was airlifted to a Massachusetts hospital Sunday evening after serious injuries on a trail bike jump in New Ipswich.
New Hampshire Fish and Game conservation officers and other emergency personnel responded to the incident at about 6 p.m., the department said in a release. It happened on private property.
On the scene, investigators found that the teen “overshot a jump and landed the trail bike on level ground,” Fish and Game said.
Because of the severity of the injuries, first responders requested a medical helicopter. A UMass Memorial LifeFlight helicopter picked up the teen at the New Ipswich Transfer Station and transported him to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, officials said.
The teen was wearing a helmet. Fish and Game did not provide any further information on the teen’s condition after the transfer.

Wait a minute… how do you overshoot a bike jump and then just land “on level ground”? That sounds sketchy.
Helmet or not, trail jumps are no joke. I’ve seen people send it and then wonder why their body is mad about it. Hope they recover.
So was the helicopter because they were bleeding out or what? Like “serious injuries” is kinda vague, I feel like they’re leaving out the real reason he got hurt. Also why private property if Fish and Game is involved?
I don’t get it, they said he overshot the jump but then he landed on level ground… wouldn’t that mean he basically made it? Maybe the jump itself was too steep? Or maybe the transfer station is some kind of emergency field? Either way, helicopters always feel extra for a bike accident.
