Ted Cruz snaps at Trump staffer in Iran spat

Sen. Ted Cruz and Trump staffer Alex Bruesewitz traded sharp lines on social media Saturday after Cruz criticized alleged Iran peace terms—responding to Bruesewitz with “Hush, child” and escalating into a Nicki Minaj hallway dispute.
Sen. Ted Cruz posted a lengthy takedown of an alleged Iran peace deal on Saturday evening—and within hours, the comment section turned personal.
Cruz’s message set the tone quickly. He said he was “deeply concerned about what we are hearing about an Iran ‘deal. ’ being pushed by some voices in the administration.” He also framed President Trump’s strike against Iran as “the most consequential decision of his second term. ” adding that Trump was “right to do so. ” pointing to “extraordinary military results. ” including “destroying all of their missiles and drones and sinking their entire navy.”.
Cruz acknowledged that “the details are still coming out” and said he “pray[ed] the early reports are wrong.” But he singled out one specific point: he said it “not encouraging” that “Biden’s Rob Malley is praising the deal.”
The post drew an immediate response from Trump staffer Alex Bruesewitz. who replied by quote-retweeting Cruz with a blunt retort: “Cool. Ted. No one asked you. bro.” Bruesewitz followed with an instruction meant to shut down the exchange: “Stop trying to undermine the President and his administration.”.
Cruz answered in part with the same tone, writing, “Hush, child. The adults are talking. I’m not your ‘bro.’” He added that “young political grifters pushing Iran appeasement are not remotely helping the President.”
Bruesewitz then appeared to treat Cruz’s comeback as an open invitation to escalate. In a longer message, he referenced an earlier moment involving Cruz’s attempt to get a photo with Nicki Minaj. “Remember when you had a school girl tantrum after I prevented you from getting a picture with Nicki Minaj after you frantically chased us down the hallway?” he wrote. He ended with a personal jab: “And you’re calling me a child?. Lmao. You’ll never be President, dips–t.”.
Bruesewitz doubled down further after pushback on his earlier post. He described. in detail. what he said he witnessed at the time: “Not to overexaggerate. but I’ve never seen anything like it.” He claimed that “@tedcruz and his staff literally sprinted down the hallway screaming ‘Nicki!. Nicki!. Nicki!’ begging Nicki Minaj for a picture.”.
He then said he told Cruz they were in a rush. saying. “we had to get to the White House and didn’t have time to stop for photos with every fan.” Bruesewitz added a concession about Minaj’s response: “(To her credit. Nicki stopped and took pics with as many staffers and elected officials as she could.) We just didn’t have time for Ted.” He also tied it to branding. writing: “Plus. brand-wise. it’s not exactly a good look to pose with Lyin’ Ted. so I was looking out for my girl.”.
Back-and-forth disputes over policy rarely stay purely policy for long—and Saturday’s clash made that clear. with Cruz’s concerns about an alleged Iran deal colliding with a personal history Bruesewitz dragged into the open. The dispute left both sides doubling down rather than walking away. turning a post about foreign policy into a test of who controls the conversation—and who gets the last word.
