Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) praised President Donald Trump for having “cast iron balls” in a preview released Monday of his appearance on Fox News host Sean Hannity’s podcast.
Hannity shared the clip ahead of Tuesday’s release of the full episode of Hang Out with Sean Hannity.
“My favorite attribute about Donald Trump is the guy has cast iron balls,” said Cruz. “He just does, at a level that there’s no parallel in history.”
“There are so many Republicans — including you and me — that are just frustrated by these weak, lily-livered Republicans that are scared of a fight, that if anyone says ‘boo’ to them, they run in the other direction,” the Texas senator continued. “Nothing scares Trump… Look, at times, I would urge, you know, a little more discipline and focus. Like, focus on the task, but the fearlessness, the energy, that is phenomenal.”
In another clip shared by Hannity, Cruz shared why he wouldn’t want to join the Supreme Court.
“It is a very solitary lifestyle,” he explained, emphasizing that while he “like[s]” to read and write, “I like people.”
“I like being in the fight with people,” Cruz continued. “I think if the president had nominated me to the court, I would have been confirmed, and the image that I kept hearing was the day after I was confirmed, walking into my chambers, and the door closing, and the sound I kept hearing was a jail cell clanging shut.”
In July, Trump said of the idea, “All Republicans will vote for him. All Democrats will vote for him because they want to get him the hell out of the Senate. No, if I was having a hard time with getting the votes, I would appoint Ted Cruz. I get 100 percent, a guarantee.”
And in February, he made similar remarks, telling a Texas rally crowd that Cruz is the “only guy” he knows who would land a unanimous nomination approval from the Senate because he’s “such a pain in the a**.”
