Ted Cruz Breaks With Andy Ogles Over Pride

Senator Ted Cruz didn’t stay quiet when a member of his own party went after the LGBTQ community during Pride season.
The dispute centers on Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee and a post on X that went viral for all the wrong reasons. On Tuesday morning, Ogles wrote, “Homosexuality has no place in America. Happy Nuclear Family Month.” He posted it on the second day of June—when June is nationally recognized as Pride Month—turning the timing into a sharper cultural fight.
Cruz, asked about Ogles’ comments on Capitol Hill, made his break unmistakable. He pushed back directly. saying. “the behavior of consenting adults is their business.” For Cruz. the message landed less as a debate about politics and more as a line he wouldn’t cross about how personal conduct is treated in public life.
The “Nuclear Family Month” language adds another layer to the disagreement. June has Pride Month recognition nationally, but the post points to a counter-designation: governors in Tennessee and Indiana have alternately declared June as Nuclear Family Month.
Ogles is no stranger to controversy on LGBTQ+ issues. He has long opposed same-sex marriage and repeatedly backed socially conservative positions on LGBTQ+ issues. That record is part of why his latest post struck a nerve inside his broader party ecosystem—especially from someone like Cruz. who has now publicly chosen a side.
The conflict also extends beyond Pride. In recent weeks. Ogles called for an investigation into Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show. arguing that it amounted to broadcasting “gay sexual acts” during prime time. Cruz’s remarks in the clip reflect the party tension that’s emerging around those kinds of accusations. as he described how his libertarian instinct leads him to see things differently.
An X post, a Pride-season timeline, and a history of socially conservative stances—those pieces land together in a single story: Cruz is publicly stepping away from Ogles’ framing, at the exact moment when LGBTQ visibility is front and center.
Ted Cruz Andy Ogles Pride Month Nuclear Family Month homosexuality LGBTQ X post Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime show Tennessee Indiana same-sex marriage
Pride month is literally in June so him saying that is just dumb. Cruz finally got it right I guess.
Wait so Cruz is disagreeing with Ogles but Ogles is the one who tweeted? Idk I feel like politics is just people fighting over words again. Also “Nuclear Family Month” sounds like something from a Facebook group I got banned from.
Cruz saying consenting adults is their business… but then they’ll ban everything else. Like how is that not the same argument just different wording? If Bad Bunny halftime was “gay sexual acts” then they should probably be mad at the concept of a halftime show existing.
This is why I don’t trust Republicans with “family values.” They only care when it’s convenient. Nuclear Family Month like Indiana/Tennessee started it? I swear I saw something about that and it got twisted all over X. Then Ogles wants an investigation over Bad Bunny?? next they’ll investigate drag queens for breathing.
