Taylor vows appeal after guilty verdict in murder case
Former Titans scout Blaise Taylor was convicted by a jury of murdering his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn child. His attorney, Letitia Quinones-Hollins, says Taylor will appeal, maintaining his innocence as he remains in custody while the process plays out
On Wednesday, a jury convicted former Titans scout Blaise Taylor of murdering his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn child. He has already signaled what comes next: an appeal.
Taylor’s attorney. Letitia Quinones-Hollins. said in a statement that the defense respects the jury system and the process but “must also respectfully disagree with today’s verdict” and plans to appeal. She said Taylor “did not do this. ” adding that he “maintains that he is innocent and we will continue working to prove that.”.
In the same statement. Quinones-Hollins acknowledged the grief surrounding the case. saying the defense understands and respects the pain felt by Ms. Benning’s family and friends over her “tragic death” and “the death of her unborn baby.” She then argued that the outcome still matters in a different way: “but putting an innocent man behind bars is also a tragedy.”.
Taylor has the right to appeal a guilty verdict, and the defense is leaning into that right. With a “very lengthy sentence looming,” the statement framed the decision to challenge the conviction as a step taken with no intention of backing down.
The legal path ahead will hinge on whether the appeals court finds grounds to overturn the verdict—either through reversible error. where a significant mistake occurred during the trial. or through significant misconduct. The question is not simply whether the defense disagrees. but whether the process included something the law recognizes as grounds for a new outcome.
An appeal typically takes months to resolve. Until then, Taylor is expected to remain in custody as the case moves from the jury’s decision to the appellate review that will determine whether the conviction stands or is reopened.

Appeal already? Sounds like they just don’t want him held accountable.
Pregnant or not, manslaughter vs murder is a whole different thing… but they said guilty so idk. Appeals usually take forever and meanwhile he’s just sitting there.
I don’t trust appeals courts either like it’s all paperwork. If the jury convicted, what reversible error could even matter? Also the article says he “maintains his innocence” but that doesn’t mean much when he’s already convicted? Feels like rich defense stuff.
This is so sad all around but I hate when they say “unborn child” like it’s just part of the headline. Like was it even proved the baby was his? And why would he get a lengthy sentence looming if they’re appealing like that changes stuff? Idk I’m confused.
