Taylor Sheridan doesn’t really do “slow build.” The man behind Yellowstone’s sprawling TV empire is already stacking what comes next—on screens and in books—at full speed.
His newest project, the procedural Marshals, is riding a streaming wave that’s hard to ignore. The series has officially crossed 100 days on the Paramount+ charts in the U.S. But it’s not quite the top dog. Marshals can’t overcome the current crown-holder on Paramount+, Dutton Ranch.
Marshals isn’t just lingering in the background, either. The show has also been a steady presence at the top of U.S. streaming charts, with Sheridan’s darkest corners showing up in weekly bursts. The latest episode aired as the seventh episode titled “Den of Sin.”
The series takes viewers into a new chapter of the Yellowstone canon. Following Rip (Cole Hauser) and Beth’s (Kelly Reilly) move to a new life in South Texas. Marshals expands the larger universe without feeling tethered to a specific storyline from earlier shows. That approach leaves room for fresh twists and plenty of room to roam.
The momentum didn’t appear out of nowhere. Marshals debuted earlier this year with its premiere drawing 20.6 million multiplatform viewers over its first seven days. It landed as the most-watched new broadcast show of the season—another signal that Sheridan’s formula still hits. even after years of Yellowstone expansion.
And the business side moved quickly, too. Shortly after the Season 1 premiere—and propelled by instant success—Marshals was picked up for Season 2, with production already underway.
While fans are binging their way through Marshals Season 1, Sheridan is also preparing to step into a different kind of storytelling. Next on the agenda for the producer is a novel titled How to Not Die in Prison. It will be released on June 23 by Simon & Schuster.
Sheridan spoke about the book in plain terms, saying, “I’ve never been to prison. But. like every man. I’ve certainly wondered how I would survive if circumstances ever put me there.” He co-wrote the book with Tom Nelson. who has firsthand prison experience. having spent 17 years in maximum and medium-security prisons.
For now, the screens keep rolling and the charts keep counting: Marshals Season 1 is available to stream in full on Paramount+.
