Taylor Frankie Paul Wins Custody Battle, Supervision Dropped

Supervised visits – A judge expanded Taylor Frankie Paul’s time with her 2-year-old son, Ever, ending a supervised-visits requirement during a Monday hearing. Dakota Mortensen remains Ever’s primary custodial parent, with custody during holidays, and both parents were ordered not
Taylor Frankie Paul left a Monday courtroom with a clear change in custody terms—one that removes a major restriction from her daily life with her 2-year-old son, Ever.
During the hearing, a judge scrapped the requirement that Paul’s parenting time be supervised, allowing her expanded time with Ever. Under the updated arrangement, Paul will have parenting time on a designated day each week and will also spend alternating weekends with their child.
Dakota Mortensen will continue serving as Ever’s primary custodial parent, and will retain custody during holidays, according to the judge’s ruling.
The judge also spelled out new ground rules for both parents, ordering them not to publicly trash each other—including on social media. The decision arrives days after Paul posted about missing her son.
The custody change is the latest turn in months of courtroom conflict between the former couple. Their legal fight intensified earlier this year as competing allegations emerged from separate domestic incidents, triggering law enforcement investigations and dueling requests for protective orders.
At a previous court hearing in April, both Paul and Mortensen were granted mutual protective orders that remain in effect for the next three years.
What makes Monday’s ruling feel so consequential is the shift it brings to the timeline of a mother’s access—supervised visits were required. and now they aren’t. With alternating weekends and a weekly designated day added to Paul’s parenting time. the days between mother and son appear poised to grow shorter. even as Mortensen retains primary custody and holiday control.
The broader dispute has also carried a sharp public edge. Paul’s 2023 domestic violence case was thrust back into the spotlight earlier this year after video from the incident was obtained—showing Paul screaming at Mortensen. appearing to put him in a headlock. and hurling metal stools toward him while their other child could be heard crying in the background.
For Paul, Monday’s outcome lands as a major courtroom hurdle cleared—one that, with supervision lifted, means she’ll be missing Ever less than she has been.
