T-Mobile’s roaming call rate may double to $0.50

T-Mobile international – T-Mobile subscribers currently pay $0.25 per minute for international voice calls, but some are reporting notices that the rate will double to $0.50 starting June 25—prompting travelers to rethink how they’ll stay connected abroad.
For anyone heading abroad with a T-Mobile phone, the cost of simply making a call could change fast. Right now, international roaming voice calls are pay-as-you-go at $0.25 a minute, with unlimited texting and varying levels of high-speed data depending on the plan.
But some T-Mobile customers say they’re receiving messages warning that those per-minute voice charges are about to rise to $0.50 a minute. The update is reportedly scheduled to go into effect on June 25.
The reports are showing up in the T-Mobile community on Reddit. One subscriber shared the notice they received from the carrier. describing the jump as a near doubling of their international call rate. Another commenter confirmed they received a similar notice when they arrived in Italy. Commenters also pointed out that travelers who left just a few days earlier didn’t get the message—suggesting T-Mobile may have only recently begun notifying some customers.
So far, there’s no clear, official confirmation from T-Mobile on its website about the new pricing. That uncertainty is leaving travelers with practical questions: Does the $0.50-a-minute rate apply to every plan type?. Will it apply across all international destinations?. And what exactly triggers whether a notice shows up before a trip?.
T-Mobile hasn’t responded to a direct request for clarification yet, leaving the impact to be measured mainly by what customers are seeing in their inboxes and texts.
The change may sound small on paper—pennies a minute—but doubling the rate can still land painfully in the moments when people need a phone most. For travelers who weren’t planning many calls. the update may push them toward alternatives like an international SIM (or eSIM) instead of relying on roaming. For others. especially those heading off on trips with the possibility of emergencies. the timing matters: nobody wants to realize mid-journey that a quick call now costs twice as much.
T-Mobile international roaming voice calls roaming rates June 25 $0.50 per minute $0.25 per minute Italy roaming
So it’s 50 cents now? That’s literally crazy for just calling. Like why even have international service at that point.
I saw this and thought it was just for like one country but then Italy popped up. Doesn’t make sense though because I leave next week and I didn’t get anything yet. Are they gonna charge everyone anyway even if you don’t get the text?
Wait so it doubles starting June 25 but only some people got the notice? That sounds like they’re testing it. I’m guessing if you call from Europe it’ll be $0.50, but if you call from WiFi calling it’s still normal? Or maybe WiFi calling counts as roaming too lol.
T-Mobile always does this “small change” thing. Like pennies a minute until you actually need to call a hotel or pick someone up. They should just say straight up what plan types it affects instead of random warnings in your inbox. Also if you didn’t get the message before you left does that mean you’re safe? I don’t trust it.
