TUCSON, Ariz. – The suspect wanted in connection with the murder of a Tucson police recruit has been arrested following a barricade situation Monday night, according to KOLD.
What we know:
Alex James Barnett, 33, was taken into custody five days after the murder of 23-year-old Carlos Ramirez and the shooting of his 23-year-old fiancée, who was a current Pima County Sheriff’s Department corrections officer.
On Aug. 20, a Blue Alert was issued for Barnett, who is accused of shooting the two at their home on Aug. 19.
Surveillance video also showed two other possible suspects, one seen with Barnett at a Shell gas station on Valencia Road, and the other seen getting out of a vehicle believed to have been involved near Palo Verde Road.
Over the weekend, Pima County officials said both suspects were located. One of the men, identified as 39-year-old Santiago Jorge Rogers, was arrested on the morning of Aug. 22 at a Tucson hotel. That night, detectives located the second man, but didn’t arrest him, as they continue to investigate his involvement in the case. His identity has not been released at this time.
