WASHINGTON − White House chief of staff Susie Wiles says she is cancer free after being diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in March.
Wiles, President Donald Trump’s chief of staff throughout his second term, provided an update on her diagnosis in a short Sept. 16 statement posted on X.
“Some personal news I’m grateful to share. After a medical appointment at the Mayo Clinic this week, my pathology results came back clear. I am cancer free,” Wiles said.
Wiles, 69, thanked her family, friends, doctors and “everyone who prayed for me, checked in, and supported me along the way.”
“A special thank you to President Trump for his unwavering support,” she added. “I am deeply grateful and will continue to work to advance his America First Agenda.”
Wiles is a longtime aide of Trump, having worked on his campaigns since 2015. After serving as co-campaign manager for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, he promoted her to the role of his chief of staff, making her the top aide in the White House.
Previously, Wiles worked as a scheduler for President Ronald Reagan’s 1980 campaign under his chief of staff, James Baker, and under Vice President Dan Quayle during George H.W. Bush’s administration. She has led several other campaigns, including Ron DeSantis’ bid for the 2018 Florida gubernatorial election.
When she was diagnosed with breast cancer in March, Wiles cited statistics that “nearly one in eight women in the United States” will face a similar breast cancer diagnosis, according to current data from the American Cancer Society.

President Donald Trump says Susie Wiles will recover well after a breast cancer diagnosis and calls her an “amazing fighter.”
“These women continue to raise their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks,” she said.
Wiles maintained her duties as chief of staff as she battled the cancer.
