Superman: Man of Tomorrow set leaks show brutal Lex return

New set leaks for “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” depict a renewed, armor-clad battle between Superman and Lex Luthor, with Superman’s suit appearing to take damage during the fight. The sequel is scheduled for theaters on Friday, July 9, 2027, and reunites David
When Superman first beat Lex Luthor and had him taken into custody after a beatdown involving Krypto. it looked like the threat was contained. The set leaks now circulating for “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” suggest the opposite: Luthor is back on the prowl. and this time he’s ready to fight through heavier defenses.
The leaks, including video, photos, and hints of dialogue, point to Luthor wearing special armor. In footage that surfaced online. Nicholas Hoult appears as Luthor seated on a street while David Corenswet’s Superman walks up and repeatedly punches him in the head or face. Even with Luthor in what’s described as a large. futuristic green spacesuit—called the Warsuit—Superman appears to hold the upper hand in the exchange.
But the battle isn’t one-sided in the aftermath of those clips. Clear set photos then showed Superman’s suit with what appears to be damage consistent with a weapon blast from Luthor. The suit is described as bearing burns and tears across the blue midsection. It’s not confirmed what that impact does to Superman himself. but the photos show the fight taking a physical toll rather than staying contained to flashy punches.
Luthor’s own preparation appears to match the threat in the images: the leaks include a photo of him holding a special weapon while wearing the Warsuit. They also show him practicing a stance that appears connected to holding—and possibly firing—that weapon. In one video, James Gunn is also seen, potentially giving Hoult direction on how he wants the scene to land.
As those images spread. fans have been quick to compare the Warsuit to familiar sci-fi characters. including Buzz Lightyear from “Toy Story” and Master Chief from the “Halo” series. Whether the look remains exactly as seen in the footage and photos—or whether there will be edits. CGI. or other effects before release—remains unclear.
The movie itself sits in the middle of James Gunn’s broader DC Universe relaunch. “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” is described as a sequel to Gunn’s DC relaunch. beginning with the 2025 “Superman” and continuing in this summer’s “Supergirl.” In the first installment under Gunn. David Corenswet played the titular hero and faced Luthor. played by Nicholas Hoult.
The sequel will bring key characters back. Nicholas Hoult and David Corenswet reprise their roles, and Rachel Brosnahan returns as Lois Lane. Edi Gathegi returns as Mister Terrific. Nathan Fillion is listed as Green Lantern. Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl. Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen. Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher. and Maria Gabriela de Faria as The Engineer. Milly Alcock. who stars in her own “Supergirl” movie this summer. will also have a role in the sequel. similar to her brief appearance at the end of the first “Superman.”.
New additions include Lars Eidinger debuting as Brainiac, described as a superintelligent alien android, and Aaron Pierre bringing John Stewart—also known as Green Lantern—from the new HBO Max series.
Outside the set, the performance of the franchise’s last entry is already part of the conversation. The first “Superman” film was the third-highest-grossing movie at the box office in 2025, per Box Office Mojo. Distributed by Warner Bros., it grossed over $354.2 million and spawned a sequel. It also received mixed reactions from critics and audiences—some praising its fun. humor. and entertainment value. while others criticized it for seeming too emotional at times and for being repeatedly beaten up.
“All of that” now lands on a new timeline: “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” is set to soar into theaters on Friday, July 9, 2027.

So Lex is back again?? Superman can’t catch a break.
I didn’t even realize it was coming out July 2027 like what lol. If Superman’s suit has burns and tears that means he’s basically getting hurt hurt, right?
Wait Krypto did what now? I thought they said Lex was taken into custody already so how is he suddenly in armor with a “Warsuit” weapon. Sounds like they’re retconning it or the leaks are fake or something.
James Gunn was on set so that’s why it’s “serious”? Also the footage where Superman is punching him in the face… I mean sure, but if Luthor’s got that weapon practicing stance then Superman getting suit damage feels like they’re spoiling the twist. Like are we just supposed to accept leaks and not know what happens to Superman himself? because the article keeps saying “not confirmed” but everyone will assume.
