New York’s power players and high-profile connections take center stage in two June 2 releases. A Pair of Aces. by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray. centers on Eunice Carter. Manhattan’s first Black female prosecutor. as she sets her sights on bringing down notorious gangster Lucky Luciano. She teams with madame Polly Adler. whose high-class brothel business places her close to the machinery of the city’s crime families. Together, they do anything to convict the leader of one of New York’s most famous crime families. That’s out June 2.

Romance fans get another emotional jolt with Robinne Lee’s Crash Into Me, out July 7.
