When Sue Rose posted that her baby girl had arrived, the timing carried its own drama. The influencer said she went into induced labor on Tuesday, June 16, welcoming daughter Melody Gisela Rose with husband Josh Vida.
Rose shared the news with People on Saturday. June 20. explaining that after four boys. they were finally having a girl—and that Melody has already found a way to stand out. “After four boys, we are having a girl, and she has made sure to stand out,” Rose told the outlet. “I always went into labor on my own. but I had developed gestational hypertension and my doctors surprised me with an induction date.”.
Gestational hypertension, according to the Mayo Clinic, is when a pregnant person experiences high blood pressure after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Rose said the shift to induction brought nerves, but the outcome was a relief. “We were nervous. since I had never been induced. but the process and delivery couldn’t have been better and welcoming our little girl into this world has felt like a dream. ” she added.
Melody was originally due in July and weighed 6 pounds and 4 ounces at birth. In an Instagram Story on Sunday. June 20. Rose also revealed the meaning behind Melody’s middle name. Gisela. saying it was inspired by her grandmother. “She passed away and I’ve always wanted to honor her in that way because she was such a big part of my life!” Rose wrote.
Rose and Vida are already parents to four sons—Leander. Mason. Jayden. and Charlie—making Melody the fifth child and the first girl in the family. Rose announced her pregnancy with baby No. 5 back in December. telling People. “We have four beautiful boys and last year. we just happened to put a baby onesie underneath the tree. This Christmas, our wish is coming true.”.
The pregnancy news had also come with a sense of disbelief. In February, Rose revealed the “surreal” update that she and Vida would be welcoming their first girl. She previously told People, “We honestly still can’t believe that we’re having a girl after four boys. At my last doctor’s appointment. my own doctor even told me ‘the odds were against us. ’ so this just feels surreal.”.
That same interview captured the way the boys had been part of the dream, not just the household routine. Rose said the change felt bigger than biology for her—“I grew up always seeing myself as a girl mom. then we became parents to the most loving and amazing boys that treat me like a queen. and we are just so excited for them to be big brothers to a sister. as all [of the] boys always have asked for a sister.”.
As the family prepares for life as a household of “girl parents,” Rose summed up what Melody represents for them now. She said, “Josh and I are super excited to step into the ‘girl parents’ world and have that dream come true. She definitely completes the family!”
