Startup Battlefield 200 applications close May 27

Pre-Series A founders have until Friday, May 27 to apply—or nominate a standout startup—for Startup Battlefield 200, with 200 selected companies set to exhibit at Disrupt, pitch onstage, and compete for $100,000 in equity-free funding.

On a deadline that feels impossible until it’s suddenly one week away, Startup Battlefield 200 is opening its final window for early-stage startups.

The application deadline is Friday, May 27. For founders building pre-launch or still before revenue. this is framed as a direct shot at VC access. global visibility. TechCrunch coverage. and $100. 000 in equity-free funding. And for any team that has already been nominated, the message is blunt: don’t wait to finish the application. With submissions surging in the last days, late entries risk getting buried.

The pitch itself is treated like the first test. Startup Battlefield 200 is described as a place for companies that can change a category in a meaningful way—not just incrementally. Pre-launch work is acceptable. revenue can be zero. and the program is positioned as less about polish and more about promise.

Selected startups will take the Disrupt Stage in front of 10. 000+ attendees. including leading VCs. global media. and the wider TechCrunch audience. The prize is not limited to the top tier either. The selected 200 companies each receive a fully funded three-day exhibition booth at Disrupt. founder masterclasses with world-class VCs and operators. a featured startup profile in the event app. press list access and lead-generation opportunities. and opportunities for TechCrunch editorial coverage. podcasts. and speaking appearances as the company grows.

Every selected company also pitches—either on the Disrupt Stage or the Pitch Showcase Stage—putting founders directly in front of investors, media, and partners who attend Disrupt looking for what’s next.

The program’s pitch-first reputation is reinforced through examples that go beyond typical “successful launch” stories. Dropbox demoed to skeptics. Cloudflare took the stage before many people understood edge networking. Discord was still a scrappy gaming startup called Hammer & Chisel. All three, the program notes, passed through Startup Battlefield 200.

The track record is laid out in numbers. More than 1,700 companies have competed in Startup Battlefield 200. Together, they have raised over $32 billion and generated more than 250 exits, including acquisitions by Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, Uber, and Amazon. The network’s reach is also described through alumni-to-alumni dealmaking: Dropbox acquired fellow Battlefield 200 alum DocSend in 2021. The same launchpad has been cited as helping companies including Fitbit, Trello, and Mint.

Applications are open globally across all industries. Most selected companies are pre-Series A, with select Series A startups eligible on a case-by-case basis.

To apply, startups are asked to present founders with vision, execution, and real traction. The funnel is intentionally narrow: thousands apply every year, but only 200 are selected. Of those, 20 finalists pitch live on the Disrupt Stage, and one startup takes the crown and wins $100,000 in equity-free funding.

What makes the May 27 deadline feel personal is the framing around founders who wait. The program argues that teams often feel they need to be “ready” before applying. and that the best work can be pushed later than it should. The worst outcome. it says. is not getting selected this cycle and coming back next year with a stronger application after going through the process.

But the calendar is the point right now: the deadline is one week away. If you’re building something category-defining—or know a startup that deserves the spotlight—submit your nomination and complete your application before Friday, May 27.
