Ansel Elgort, Halle Bailey, Ludacris, Alan Ritchson, J.B. Smoove, CeeLo Green and Agnez Mo are among the voice cast for the upcoming animated feature ‘Groove Tails,’ now in production for an Annecy buyers’ introduction ahead of a projected animation completion
By the time the cameras and notebooks are packed away at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the question won’t just be what “Groove Tails” looks like on screen—it’ll be who brings it to life.
The upcoming animated feature. from “Twilight” producers Imprint Entertainment and “The Lego Ninjago Movie” writer/director Bob Logan. has assembled a voice cast packed with familiar faces. Leading the ensemble are Ansel Elgort (“Baby Driver. ” “The Fault in Our Stars”). Halle Bailey (“The Little Mermaid. ” “The Color Purple”). Ludacris (“Fast & Furious” franchise. “Crash”). Alan Ritchson (“Reacher. ” “War Machine”). J.B. Smoove (“Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Mapleworth Murders”), CeeLo Green (“Hotel Transylvania”), and international recording artist and actress Agnez Mo (“Reacher”).
The producers plan to introduce “Groove Tails” to buyers and the international animation community at the upcoming Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The pitch is built on motion and music: set in New York and billed as a “four-quadrant. music-driven animated film with dance throughout.” The story follows an enthusiastic young mouse with dreams of becoming a world-famous dancer. When his father dismisses those ambitions. he sets out on a journey with an unlikely group of misfits—one they say must “discover their own unique rhythms while fighting to save the only place they’ve ever truly called home.”.
Logan, an Emmy and Peabody Award winner, framed the effort as more than casting. “Groove Tails is a celebration of individuality, perseverance and the universal language of music,” he said. “We’ve assembled an extraordinary cast that brings incredible energy, humor and heart to these characters. This is the kind of movie audiences of all ages can enjoy together.”.
Behind the scenes. the film is produced by Oscar-winning producer Maryann Garger (“If Anything Happens. I Love You. ” “Avatar: The Last Airbender”). and Michael Becker. founder of Imprint Entertainment. Executive producers include Jeff Elliott, Mary Aloe, Gilian Hormel, Jeff Gum, Graham Chan and Ritchson. Garger and Becker also described the target tone. “From the beginning. our goal was to create a film that blends high-voltage. magnetic entertainment with the emotional resonance of a classic family adventure. delivered with flawless. premium artistry. ” they said.
The project is currently in production, and “Groove Tails” is expected to complete animation in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Why is Ansel Elgort still getting work though? Like voice acting doesn’t magically erase stuff.
This sounds like another “dance mouse” movie cashing in on music again. New York too, so it’s basically the same plot as everything else just with more beat drops.
Annecy buyers intro? So like… it’s not even finished but they already have CeeLo and Ludacris on it. That’s wild, like they’re selling the vibe before the actual movie exists. Also why is the article saying cameras and notebooks? animation doesn’t have cameras right?
Agnez Mo and Halle Bailey together??? I’m sorry but I automatically think it’s gonna be good. The title “Groove Tails” makes me think of Tail-ish like foxes or dogs but it’s a mouse? Either way, save the home sounds like every kids movie ever lol. Hope it comes out soon.
