The lights dimmed and the gameplay trailer started, and within minutes it was clear what EA and the team behind Star Wars Zero Company wanted to show: this isn’t just another set of cutscenes. It’s a new chance to feel the Clone Wars—right down to a glimpse of Anakin Skywalker.
Star Wars Zero Company is set to arrive on PC. PlayStation 5. and Xbox Series X|S on August 27. following its showing at Summer Game Fest 2026. The announcement comes after a long runway for the project. first revealed in 2022 as one of the games co-developed by Respawn Entertainment. the studio behind Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor.
Respawn developed the game with a new studio called Bit Reactor, and EA will publish it. Bit Reactor’s team includes former Firaxis Games employees. and the studio was founded by Greg Foertsch—senior art director on XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2. That background fed expectations early on. and it matched what players noticed when Star Wars Zero Company debuted in April with an announcement trailer that showed similarities to XCOM.
Foertsch framed the mission in familiar terms for anyone who’s ever chased the feeling of a strategy series: “Our team has poured everything we love about Star Wars into Zero Company. ” he said. He added that the studio has worked hand-in-hand with Lucasfilm Games “to create an authentic Star Wars story packed with unique new characters. robust character customization. a new ship. Separatist Droids. and much more. all rooted in the conflict of the Clone Wars.”.
The story takes place in the “twilight of the Clone Wars.” Players step in as former Republic officer Hawks. tasked with recruiting allies across the galaxy and across species to build a team—then hunting Kundri Fathom. the leader of a Dark Side cult that threatens the entire galaxy. Your base of operations is the “Den. ” where you form teams and dispatch groups of your friends. called Operators. to different locations across the map.
As the setting unfolds, the trailer’s new glimpse of the era’s most recognizable forces isn’t just window dressing. Anakin Skywalker appears as a Jedi General at that point in time, also on an important mission.
There’s also a price tag tied to the new reveal. Star Wars Zero Company is available for preorder on PC. PS5. and Xbox Series X|S for $70 for the Standard Edition. A Deluxe edition is also offered. with cosmetic packs. five painted weapon themes. and the Crystalline Astromech Cosmetic Pack. including an R3 droid.
EA has made the gameplay trailer available to watch, with the video linked in the announcement.

August 27?? cool I guess, but is it really gonna be “strategic” or just another trailer promise?
I saw “Anakin Skywalker glimpse” and immediately thought it was gonna be like the old Battlefront stuff. But then they’re saying it’s by Respawn/EA so idk, I’m skeptical. Also why does it feel like XCOM every time I hear this game mentioned?
So wait, is this the same Star Wars as the one that already got delayed like 3 times? And “Bit Reactor” sounds like some random sponsor not a real studio, right? If it’s on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S August 27 then I’ll try it, but if it plays anything like Fallen Order I might refund it.
The article keeps saying “authentic Clone Wars” and “unique new characters” which is great but I don’t trust EA with customization anymore. Plus it says it debuted in April but was revealed in 2022?? that timeline is confusing like they just keep reposting the same thing. Also didn’t they say Lucasfilm was involved, so why does it sound like a reskin of XCOM with lightsabers?
