Stanley Pup returns tonight with NHL pups up for adoption

The Stanley Pup competition is back. bringing together adoptable shelter pups to celebrate the Stanley Cup and. just as importantly. help match animals with their forever homes. Steve Mayer. the NHL president of content and events. said the event has become a fan favorite for a reason: “This event has quickly become a fan-favorite tradition. blending the competitive spirit of the NHL with the mission of finding homes for animals in need. ” Mayer said in a statement. “When Patrick Kanine. Cole Pawfield. Quinn Chews. and others find families because of Stanley Pup. we know that this show has true meaning.”.
The dogs taking part are playfully named for NHL stars. including Patrick Kanine for Patrick Kane of the Detroit Red Wings. Cole Pawfield for Cole Caufield of the Montreal Canadiens. and Quinn Chews for Quinn Hughes of the Minnesota Wild. The event has already built momentum online; a recent promo video posted to the NHL’s official Instagram has drawn more than 25. 000 likes in two days.
All 32 NHL teams will be represented by a dog available for adoption through the NHL’s adoption partner. the Brandywine Valley SPCA. based in Pennsylvania. Alongside the more familiar names Mayer highlighted. the lineup also features playful contenders such as Jack Chews. representing Jack Hughes of the New Jersey Devils; Matthew Schaefurry. representing Matthew Schaefer of the New York Islanders; and Macklin Celewienie. representing Macklin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks.
Elias Weiss Friedman, the creator of the photodocumentary series The Dogist, will join the event as an anchor, focusing on adoption follow-up segments that show what happens after the cameras stop.
The 90-minute special is set for U.S. viewers tonight, Monday, June 8, at 9:30 p.m. ET on TruTV and HBO Max. In Canada, it will premiere at 8 p.m. ET on Sportsnet 360.
For fans who miss the first airing, the NHL will keep the momentum going: the special will be available on the NHL’s YouTube channel on June 9 and via the NHL Network on June 10. Viewers in the Washington, D.C., area will be able to watch it later through Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) on June 15.

Wait so the dogs are named like Patrick Kanine and Cole Pawfield?? That’s actually kinda adorable.
I don’t get it… is this like a real NHL game but with puppies? Also why is it on TruTV and HBO Max like that makes sense lol.
They say 32 teams, but is Brandywine Valley SPCA actually getting all those dogs moved around? Sounds like a logistics nightmare, unless they just show a couple and call it a day.
Every year with the Stanley Pup thing and I still cry like it’s 2019. Also the headline says “returns tonight” but then it’s on YouTube June 9 and NHL Network June 10?? I’m gonna miss it anyway because I work evenings.
