NEW YORK — The build-up to the 2026 Stanley Cup Final is already locked into place, down to which night Game 1 lands.
The National Hockey League announced the schedule scenarios for the Final. which will match the Vegas Golden Knights against the winner of the Eastern Conference Final between the Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens. The only thing still out of place is time itself, hinging on how long the Eastern Conference Final lasts.
The schedule is built around regular-season points. Based on higher regular-season point totals, either the Hurricanes or Canadiens will host Games 1 and 2 of the best-of-seven Stanley Cup Final, as well as Games 5 and 7 if necessary. Vegas will host Games 3 and 4, along with Game 6 if needed.
That means the calendar shifts depending on the Eastern Conference Final’s ending:
If the Eastern Conference Final ends in five games, Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final will be on Tuesday, June 2.
If it’s decided in six or seven games, Game 1 will be on Thursday, June 4.
Each game of the 2026 Stanley Cup Final is set to start at 8 p.m. ET. In the United States, every game will be available on ABC. In Canada, every game will be available on Sportsnet, CBC and TVA Sports.
There’s also a media component arriving right before the puck drops. Media Day for the Stanley Cup Final will take place the day prior to Game 1, either June 1 or June 3.
