STAMFORD — Three city residents and their dog were displaced after escaping an early-morning house fire, an official said.
The blaze broke out at a residence in the 90 block of Chestnut Hill Road around 3 a.m., according to Stamford Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Kerwin.
Kerwin said a resident reported the fire and said another person was still inside. He said the resident “was attempting to assist the family member to safety” during the call.
Firefighters arrived to the one-and-a-half-story residence with heavy flames coming from the rear of the home, Kerwin said. A screened-in porch, kitchen and family room were involved and flames began spreading to the attic, he said.
Kerwin said the blaze took crews 54 minutes to control it. Kerwin said firefighters initially began an exterior attack, before moving through the front door to further extinguish the blaze.
Everyone made it outside the residence, and no injuries were reported, Kerwin said. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced family, he added.
Kerwin said the blaze is being investigated by the fire marshal’s office.
